Which home remedies for ED have support?
NIDDK’s treatment guidance supports physical activity, a healthy weight, quitting smoking, limiting alcohol and stopping recreational or illicit drug use; it also describes counseling when emotional issues affect ED. These are lifestyle steps, separate from prescription medicines such as those described in the sildenafil (Viagra) label.

| Home step | What the verified source supports | Limit / source |
|---|---|---|
| Exercise and healthy weight | Increase physical activity and maintain a healthy body weight. | Recommended lifestyle changes; NIDDK ED treatment |
| Smoking, alcohol and recreational drugs | Quit smoking, limit alcohol and stop recreational or illicit drug use. | Recommended lifestyle changes; NIDDK ED treatment |
| Stress or anxiety | Ask about counseling when emotional issues are affecting ED. | Use when relevant to your situation; NIDDK ED treatment |
| Yohimbe and other supplements | Talk with a health care professional before taking supplements. | Yohimbe benefit is not established; NCCIH yohimbe |
| Baking soda and water | No supporting FDA, NIH or DailyMed source was found in our research. | Not listed as treatment in NIDDK guidance |
| “Natural” pills and honey | FDA has identified products with hidden sildenafil or tadalafil. | FDA product notifications |
The lifestyle rows come from NIDDK, last reviewed October 2024; the yohimbe source was updated May 2025. Drug labels address medicines, not proof that a home remedy works.
Make the first step specific: choose one habit above to work on and write down when erection problems happen, what you take and what you want to ask a provider. Use our ED and alcohol and performance anxiety guides to prepare.
Does baking soda help ED?
Our research found no evidence supporting baking soda and water as an ED treatment. The NIDDK treatment page does not list it; the sildenafil (Viagra) label describes a prescription medicine, not a kitchen substitute.
A social-media recipe is not a substitute for a provider’s assessment. Bring the product name or recipe to your visit rather than treating a claim of “natural Viagra” as evidence.
When to see a provider—and when it is urgent
Book an assessment if ED keeps happening. NIDDK lists diabetes, heart disease, blood pressure problems and some medicines among possible causes; before considering medication, discuss the restrictions in the sildenafil (Viagra) label and tadalafil (Cialis) label.
Bring your full medicine and supplement list. The sildenafil (Viagra) label and tadalafil (Cialis) label contraindicate use with nitrates or riociguat; the sildenafil label also says it should not be used when sexual activity is inadvisable because of cardiovascular status.
Get emergency care for an erection lasting more than 4 hours; stop the medicine and seek care for sudden vision or hearing loss. These warnings appear in the sildenafil (Viagra) label.
For a visit, prepare three details: when the problem started, whether it is recurring, and all medicines or supplements you use. Start with Mendoxa ED care or read how an online ED prescription works.

What each path includes
Compare the process before choosing your next step. Home habits and a provider visit can be part of the same approach; buying an enhancement product does not include a medical assessment.
Swipe or scroll sideways to see every column.
| Path | What you do / receive | Decision point and source |
|---|---|---|
| Home habits | Work on activity, weight, smoking and alcohol; ask about counseling when relevant. | Start with NIDDK guidance; prescription safety is covered by the sildenafil (Viagra) label. |
| Supplements or “natural” products | A retail purchase; no provider assessment is included in the purchase itself. | FDA findings include hidden sildenafil and tadalafil; check FDA notices. |
| A visit with your own provider | Discuss causes, medicines and treatment options. | Use NIDDK’s treatment overview and the sildenafil (Viagra) label to prepare questions. |
| Mendoxa online visit | Independent licensed providers assess whether a prescription is appropriate. | Prescription required; the Mendoxa compounded tablet is not FDA-approved. |
Ready for a prescription assessment? Complete the Mendoxa intake with your health history and medicine list. Independent licensed providers decide whether treatment is appropriate; a visit does not promise a prescription.
Know what Mendoxa offers before starting
Mendoxa’s compounded tablet combines sildenafil, tadalafil and apomorphine; the sildenafil (Viagra) label, tadalafil (Cialis) label and apomorphine (APOKYN) label are ingredient references, not approval of the combination. The Mendoxa compounded tablet is not FDA-approved.
The apomorphine (APOKYN) label is for Parkinson’s “off” episodes and contraindicates use with 5HT3 antagonists such as ondansetron; it is not an FDA label for this ED combination.
Prescription required · Independent licensed providers. Review the single Mendoxa plan table below, then use the intake to request an assessment. Read about the combination ED tablet, ED medication options or return to Mendoxa home.

FAQ
What is the best natural remedy for ED?
There is no single best option for everyone: NIDDK recommends activity, a healthy weight, quitting smoking and limiting alcohol. These are home steps rather than substitutes for a prescription assessment; the sildenafil (Viagra) label covers medicine safety.
Does drinking baking soda and water help ED?
Our research found no supporting FDA, NIH or DailyMed evidence, and NIDDK’s treatment guidance does not list it. The sildenafil (Viagra) label is a prescription reference, not evidence for the “baking soda trick.”
Can ED be reversed naturally?
Improvement depends on the cause: NIDDK identifies lifestyle factors alongside conditions such as diabetes and heart disease, so a lasting result cannot be promised. If you consider medication, discuss the restrictions in the sildenafil (Viagra) label with your provider.
Are natural ED supplements safe?
“Natural” does not establish safety: FDA notices identify products with hidden sildenafil or tadalafil, which must not be taken with nitrates. FDA also says that absence from its notification list does not establish safety.
How can I get harder erections without pills?
NIDDK recommends lifestyle changes and may suggest counseling when emotional issues affect ED; see the evidence table for the home steps. If you want to discuss medication later, bring your medicine list and the sildenafil (Viagra) label to a provider assessment.
When should I see a provider about ED?
Arrange an assessment when ED keeps happening, because NIDDK says it may signal another health problem. The sildenafil (Viagra) label calls for emergency treatment for an erection lasting more than 4 hours and prompt care for sudden vision or hearing loss after taking it.
