Can Adderall cause erectile dysfunction?
The labels support a possible link, not a diagnosis of your symptoms. The Adderall XR (amphetamine mixed salts) label explains that voluntary postapproval reports cannot reliably establish how often a reaction occurs or whether the drug caused it.
Describe the problem you want help with: firmness, sexual desire, or erections that last longer than expected—the Adderall (amphetamine mixed salts) label lists these as distinct reported changes. Read performance anxiety and ED if anxiety is also part of your question; NIDDK lists anxiety, stress and depression among possible contributors.
Taking a blood pressure medicine too? Our lisinopril and ED guide covers that separate medication question.
Adderall and ED: what the labels say
Use this evidence table to separate what is reported from what is known about frequency. Sources checked Oct 22, 2026.
| Label entry | Exact wording or finding | What it does not tell you |
|---|---|---|
| Adderall tablet: adverse reactions, Endocrine | “Impotence, changes in libido, frequent or prolonged erections.” (Adderall (amphetamine mixed salts) label) | No frequency is given for these entries |
| Adderall XR: adult study (191 treated; 64 placebo) | “libido decreased” and “impotence” were among reactions “reported by 2 to 4% of adult patients receiving ADDERALL XR with a higher incidence than patients receiving placebo” (Adderall XR (amphetamine mixed salts) label) | This is a grouped range from one study, not a separate ED rate |
| Adderall XR: postapproval reports | Reported reactions include “Impotence, changes in libido, frequent or prolonged erections”; such reports make it “not always possible to reliably estimate their frequency or establish a causal relationship” (Adderall XR (amphetamine mixed salts) label) | Whether Adderall caused your own symptoms |
| Adderall: blood pressure and heart rate | Mean increase about 2 to 4 mm Hg in blood pressure and about 3 to 6 bpm in heart rate; “Some patients may have larger increases” (Adderall (amphetamine mixed salts) label) | The labels do not link this to erections |
| Adderall: heart disease | Avoid use with known structural cardiac abnormalities, cardiomyopathy, serious arrhythmia, coronary artery disease or other serious cardiac disease (Adderall (amphetamine mixed salts) label) | Your own cardiac status: that needs a clinician |
| Viagra, Cialis and APOKYN interaction lists | No amphetamine interaction listed in the Viagra (sildenafil) label, Cialis (tadalafil) label or APOKYN (apomorphine) label | No listed interaction is not the same as a safety clearance; a provider reviews every medicine |
Sources: Adderall (amphetamine mixed salts) tablet label, Teva, 5/2024; Adderall XR (amphetamine mixed salts) label, Takeda, 4/2026; Viagra (sildenafil) label; Cialis (tadalafil) label; APOKYN (apomorphine) label. Accessed Oct 22, 2026.
Can you take Viagra with Adderall?
No direct amphetamine interaction is listed in the Viagra (sildenafil) label or Cialis (tadalafil) label. That does not establish that taking them with Adderall is safe for you; these labels require consideration of cardiovascular health.
The Adderall (amphetamine mixed salts) label warns about increased blood pressure and heart rate and advises avoiding use in serious cardiac disease. The Viagra (sildenafil) label says ED treatment should generally not be used when sexual activity is inadvisable because of cardiovascular status; the Cialis (tadalafil) label also sets cardiovascular restrictions.
Tell your provider about every medicine before adding ED treatment. Sildenafil and tadalafil are contraindicated with organic nitrates and riociguat (Viagra (sildenafil) label; Cialis (tadalafil) label). Read ED medication and nitrates and ED and blood pressure to prepare your questions.
What each path includes
Choose the next conversation by the problem you want addressed. Bring a medication timeline to your ADHD prescriber; use an ED visit to ask about treatment suitability. You can raise both questions without deciding the cause yourself.
| Path | Question it addresses | What it includes | Boundary |
|---|---|---|---|
| ADHD prescriber review | Is Adderall part of the problem? | Timing of symptoms, dose and possible changes; “Your healthcare provider may change the dose if needed” (Adderall (amphetamine mixed salts) label) | Discuss changes with the clinician prescribing it |
| ED assessment | What else could be causing ED? | Medical, sexual and mental health history, a physical exam and tests, including the medicines you take (NIDDK) | A medicine side effect is one cause among several |
| Standalone ED prescription | Is an ED medicine suitable with Adderall? | Sildenafil or tadalafil if appropriate, after a cardiovascular review (Viagra (sildenafil) label; Cialis (tadalafil) label) | The approved ingredient labels do not establish suitability for you |
| Mendoxa 3-in-1 visit | Does the compounded tablet fit? | Online intake that asks about your current medicines; Independent licensed providers review it; Prescription required | Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved |

What to bring to your prescriber or ED visit
Keep taking ADHD medicine as prescribed while arranging a review. The Adderall (amphetamine mixed salts) label describes withdrawal after abrupt discontinuation or dose reduction following prolonged use; discuss any change with your prescriber.
Prepare a short note for the visit: your medicine name and prescribed dose, start date, any changes, when erection or desire changes began, and all other medicines, vitamins and supplements. The Adderall (amphetamine mixed salts) label asks patients to share their medicine list; NIDDK’s ED assessment guidance also includes medicine history.
Useful questions: “Could my medicine be contributing?” “What else should be assessed?” and “Would an ED prescription fit my health history?” See ED medication options and how ED is assessed and treated.
Safety checks before ED medication
- Sildenafil and tadalafil are contraindicated with organic nitrates or riociguat (Viagra (sildenafil) label; Cialis (tadalafil) label).
- An erection lasting more than 4 hours needs immediate medical care (Viagra (sildenafil) label; Cialis (tadalafil) label).
- Stop and seek care for sudden vision loss or sudden decrease or loss of hearing (Viagra (sildenafil) label; Cialis (tadalafil) label).
- Common adverse effects include headache and flushing with sildenafil, and headache, indigestion and back pain with tadalafil (Viagra (sildenafil) label; Cialis (tadalafil) label).
- The APOKYN (apomorphine) label contraindicates use with 5HT3 antagonists such as ondansetron and warns about nausea and fainting.
Do not add another ED medicine to an existing treatment on your own: the Viagra (sildenafil) label and Cialis (tadalafil) label say combinations with other PDE5 inhibitors or ED therapies have not been studied and advise against such use.
If ED is the problem you want treated now

Share your symptoms, health history and current medicines, including Adderall; the Adderall (amphetamine mixed salts) label asks patients to tell their clinician about all medicines. The tablet combines sildenafil, tadalafil and apomorphine; it is not FDA-approved. Ingredient references are the Viagra (sildenafil) label, Cialis (tadalafil) label and APOKYN (apomorphine) label; APOKYN is an injectable Parkinson’s treatment, and its label is not approval of this ED combination.

FAQ
Does Adderall-related ED go away?
The labels do not say how long it lasts or whether it reverses. The Adderall XR (amphetamine mixed salts) label notes that postapproval reports cannot reliably establish frequency or causation. Ask your ADHD prescriber about timing or dose rather than stopping, because the Adderall (amphetamine mixed salts) label describes withdrawal after abrupt discontinuation.
Can you take Viagra with Adderall?
The Viagra (sildenafil) label and Cialis (tadalafil) label list no direct interaction with amphetamine, but both ask prescribers to consider cardiovascular status. The Adderall (amphetamine mixed salts) label reports blood pressure and heart rate increases, so a provider should review your heart health and every medicine first.
Does Adderall make you last longer in bed?
The Adderall (amphetamine mixed salts) label lists frequent or prolonged erections as reported reactions; it does not establish a benefit for delaying ejaculation. An erection lasting more than 4 hours needs immediate medical care under the Viagra (sildenafil) label and Cialis (tadalafil) label warnings.
Does Adderall lower sex drive?
The Adderall XR (amphetamine mixed salts) label lists decreased libido among reactions reported in an adult study, while the Adderall (amphetamine mixed salts) label uses the broader wording “changes in libido.” Tell your prescriber whether the problem is reduced desire, erection firmness, or both.
Is it Adderall or anxiety causing my ED?
The labels cannot tell you that. The Adderall (amphetamine mixed salts) label lists impotence as a reported reaction, while NIDDK lists anxiety, depression and stress among other causes of ED; an ED assessment looks at both.
Can I get ED treatment online if I take Adderall?
You can start an online ED visit; the Mendoxa intake asks about current medicines and Independent licensed providers decide suitability. Prescription required. The compounded tablet is not FDA-approved, its ingredients are referenced in the Viagra (sildenafil) label and Cialis (tadalafil) label.

How we wrote this
Written by the Mendoxa editorial team · Sources: DailyMed/FDA. Medical facts on this page come from the FDA-approved labels on DailyMed and Drugs@FDA; each drug name links to its label. We checked the Adderall (amphetamine mixed salts) label, Adderall XR (amphetamine mixed salts) label, Viagra (sildenafil) label and Cialis (tadalafil) label on Oct 22, 2026, distinguishing trial results from postapproval reports. The absence of an amphetamine interaction in these ED labels is a label-text finding, not evidence that a combination is safe for everyone. Ingredient labels describe their approved products; they do not establish safety or effectiveness of Mendoxa’s compounded combination.
